Motorcycle Comms

This project was part of my Product Development class, where I took a leading role in driving the team toward creating a functional and innovative smart motorcycle helmet communication device. The assignment required us to create a sellable product. As a team we decided we wanted something relatively complex like integrating actuators, sensors, and AI-driven modules into a real-world, market-ready applications; so we decided to build a helmet that lets riders stay connected safely on the road.

As the only person on the team with riding experience and the most overall experienced engineer, I guided the team in selecting the right hardware (GPS, Bluetooth, microphones, speakers), coordinating the design and implementation phases, and making sure our solution met both technical specs and business goals. Since the course focused on product viability, we also performed market research, sketched out a basic go-to-market plan, and evaluated sellability, pricing, and potential customer segments. As team leader, I organized tasks so that everyone, mechanical engineers, business majors, and software devs, had clearly defined roles. Even though some teammates didn’t come from a Mech E or business background, I made sure to assign work that played to their strengths and kept communication lines open. By leveraging everyone’s skills and keeping the project aligned with both engineering requirements and business considerations, we were able to deliver a working prototype on time.

Attached are the final deliverables showcasing our collective effort and the steps we took, from concept sketches and component selection to user testing and a preliminary business pitch, to build a fully functioning helmet communication system.

These are the actual Google Drive / Docs / Slides viewers from the exported site, rebuilt as responsive in-page embeds.

Migration note. This page preserves the writing and embedded material from the original Google Sites export. The surrounding portfolio is the polished redesign; this archive exists so none of the original work disappears.
