ORIGINAL PORTFOLIO · ULTIMATE FIGHT BOTS
Humanoids
I work with Unitree and Booster humanoid platforms through Ultimate Fight Bot, as featured in The New York Times. I led a Berkeley team to compete at UFB3, was flown out during Vegas Tech Week to compete at UFB5 against teams including Linus Tech Tips, and am now collaborating with the organization to help build future humanoid leagues. Match footage is below, feel free to ask me about the technical direction I’m excited to explore.

At UFB5 during Vegas Tech Week, I worked directly with humanoid platforms in a live, high-stakes environment alongside well-known YouTubers and robotics influencers, despite attending as a student competitor. I was responsible for rapid system bring-up, calibration, and troubleshooting under tight turnaround times, adapting control strategies to account for actuator limits, balance instability, and impact-driven disturbances. Performing on par with experienced creators in front of a live audience reinforced my ability to operate humanoid systems under pressure and outside academic settings. Competing beyond the lab exposed real failure modes, thermal limits, communication latency, and mechanical compliance, that continue to shape how I think about humanoid robustness, safety, and competition design.

At UFB3, I led a Berkeley-based student team competing in a humanoid fighting format, taking ownership of team coordination, system readiness, and technical execution. As a student-led effort, this required translating limited access to hardware and practice time into reliable performance on competition day. I focused on preparing the system to be predictable, recoverable, and safe under dynamic interaction, while guiding teammates through both technical and operational decision-making. The experience reinforced my interest in humanoids as a full-stack problem spanning mechanics, control, safety, and human coordination.
UFB Future
Moving forward, I’m working with Ultimate Fight Bot to help shape the next generation of humanoid leagues, with an emphasis on safety, fairness, and technical depth. I’m particularly interested in how competition formats can encourage better engineering, rewarding robustness, controllability, and system design rather than one-off performance. My goal is to help evolve humanoid competition into a space that accelerates real-world progress and creates clear technical pathways from experimentation to deployment.
